You know... you really come to know more about yourself when you have kids. Especially when you have a child who is struggling in school and you have put the poor thing through so many tests and doctor visits, when you are trying to figure things out and get a diagnosis. And then you get reports back from professionals, like a Child psychologist,  you realize, "Hey that's me!"

I'vd had a few," Well that explains a whole lot!" moments of my own personality in the last few years as well. We have been told that our daughter is very easily distracted, not ADD or ADHD, but just distracted by the smallest of things. Well shoot! That's me!  I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. If you have ever had a conversation with me  you may have noticed ( and even been put off by) the fact that I look away often . Being distracted by the smallest thing like a bird flying by a window or even  a car driving by. I do apologize...but I don't do it intentionally.

So for fun I went searching on the internet to see if there is a term for it. The one study I found said that easily distracted people have too much brain. Explaining there is more grey matter in our brains. Then it went on to say that easily distracted people have immature brains...well yup that explains even more! I then found another study from the University of Harvard  that says easily distracted people tend to be more creative. I think I fall under that category, and so does my daughter.

So while there may not be a simple term for it, it feels good to know that I am not alone. There have been studies done on people like myself.

I look at my daughter and think, " I understand this apple more than any other person".

So the next time you are talking to me and my eyes dart to behind you, I'm not bored by our conversation, I'm just making sure that there is no bird gonna fly into your head.


So I know I don't have ADD, this is kinda the mind of an easily distracted person...
