Hey guess what I found the cool sculptures I was talking about...and they were only 2 blocks from our hotel in Hannover, go figure! They are called The Nana by a very popular German artist Niki de Saint Phalle. They each have a name: Sophie, Caroline, Charlotte, but not sure which one is which, they weren't labelled. These are to represent " The Every Woman". There are more around the world But the most renowned ones are in Hannover, there were more at a gallery
I was looking for old architecture but in doing research found out Hannover doesn't any except for the Aegidien church and one other very small arch. The city was the hardest hit in WW2 and they have kept this as a monument. I actually spent the most time here, sat and took in the emotions of this building. A sacred place for many. Bombs do not differentiate between a church and a dictator's house (not that that is what they were bombing for but just trying to make a point).
It was built in 1347
The sculpture to the right is called Humanity, 1954 it was dedicated as a memorial to the victims of war.
This bell was given to Hannover by sister city Hiroshima in 1985, a "Peace Bell"
Every August 6 every faith and religion gather with an hour of remembrance and meditation.
the burn marks still all around it

It's similar in Munich - but there they rebuilt a lot of them to look old. It is an interesting view from "the other side" and how it affected them.
The sculptures -- well. Not really up my alley but I'm glad you found them after your adventure the day before! It would be interesting to look up the artist and the other locations and see what they look like.
