For Sale

My Mom and I are having a garage sale this saturday. We have been busy going through closets and boxes. My mom was going through some of her closets in the basement where the "Old" clothes hang. I was going through them to see what was worth selling and just straight donating and so on. I came across some truly vintage clothes. Clothes my mom wore in the 60's and 70's. I so wish I could fit into them, but alas I can't. It kinda got me thinking that these clothes deserve some new life. Hopefully some of you can help me out. I am looking for someone who would want these clothes for their true use. Not a bunch of rags in a bag. someone who is maybe a clothes designer who would want to rework them and renew their life. So here are some of the pictures of the clothes that are coming out from the dark...
These are rabbit fur coats. I think they would make great mitts or moccasins.

Ruffle body suits

Grad dress

Silver Christmas dress and Pink Bridesmaid dress

Various polyester dresses and knit coat

Pleated reversible  skirt

This suit is so nice, it is more a raspberry, not hot pink. Comes with pants too

Purple suit

Love the silver Christmas dress and the pink (raspberry) suit. What size would you say these are in today's sizes?

Good question. They say size 12 bit there is nooo way that is today size 12, I would guess about a 6.

Ha, ha. Yes, I'd agree they are not today's size 12 by looking at them. Interesting how sizing numbers have changed over the years . . . you have to wonder if there is some psychological master plan of clothes manufacturers to reduce size numbers to (possibly) make the consumer feel better about their "size" number not being so large, ie. wearing a size 6 "sounds" better than wearing a size 12, even though they are the same actual size. Crazy.

Melanie,
I haven't cruised your site in a while so I'm probably too late but I do know someone who woudl make a wonderful home for the clothes. She is super into vintage clothing, fabric and patrons and has a blog http://tanitisis.wordpress.com/ which is very entertaining to read. Man she has a lot of energy!
So if you haven't found a home for the clothes I think she would take them to make/remake them into something and she'd wear it!

Ps her mom is a friend of mine from the heritage world. She currently lives in Calgary.
