I like watching awards shows, but only the red carpets at the beginning. Yup I watch for the dresses. I have my opinions on them too, very often they differ with the "Pros" opinions. So here are some of the dresses that caught my eye.
Lea Michelle, I really don't like these kinds of dresses. I know Halle Berry had one not too long ago at some other awards thing. I really don't know what it is but really ladies wear something that actually covers you for pete sake.
Kelly Osborne. First off her hair I know she is giving her hair a "rest" in between drastic colors but this grey is awful and it doesn't work with the dress either.
Julianna Margulies Looks like a rubber dress.
Nicole Ritchie, this girl knows what works for her. I love it!
Amada Peet looks like she took so kitchen sheer curtains and twirled in them.
Ugh. Love the style hate the color or pattern or what ever you call an ink squid squirting some fabric.
I though Sarah Michelle Geller knew better
Elle Macpherson, if she's trying to get attention she got it, don't like the train this is a wedding dress
Sofia Vergara, this woman has curves and is not afraid to show them, I think this is my favourite dress of the night.
Angelina Jolie. Not a bad dress, it just makes her look so pale, which she probably is.
Julianne Moore, Love her , love this dress. She seems to get it right most red carpets. Classic black works.
Tilda Swanton, when I think of her I think of the Witch in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe movie. I think she still looks like the Ice Queen in this dress. She is know for her unique style, this dress isn't horrible, just the color is so pale.
Reese Witherspoon, another gal who gets it right. The train is a little bunchy and looks like a nightmare to walk in, but the color and style look fabulous on her.
Natalie Portman, again another girl who knows classic works for her. It does make her look short, which she is, but she looks great!
Kate Winslet. She too works her curves. This old Hollywood look works very well.
Jessica Alba. I love this dress. Not a huge fan of the color.
Madonna. It looks good till where her hands are and then it just is a mess.
So there are my opinions, what are yours? Which ones did you love or not love?
This one is for Erica. This is Paula Patton. I don't know who she is. Talk about a burst on sunshine!
Oh yeah one last picture. George Clooney and his girlfriend Stacy Keibler.
And he won! His movie the Descendants looks interesting, hopefully it is better than his last few movies.

I love your comments! I agree with so many of them. Especially Julianna M in the rubber dress. why? She is so pretty why that dress.
I will come watch red carpets with you anytime. It is also my favorite part.
your funny.... dresses i know nothing - talking about fabric on the set, or on a chair... I know that!
my fav is jm's black dress.... love her red hair too.... i dream of being a red head someday!
Interesting. Your blog, like mine, doesn't always get alot of comments. This one already has 3 posts! I must admit that I really have never watched one of these shows & I don't know who most of these women are. I think an insane amount of money is spent on their 2minutes in the lights.
My other comment - grey hair is just fine. You just need to know that you must wear the right color clothes with it. So I guess if you normally dye your hair then you have no idea what color looks good on you. As you age your skin tone changes as well which is why some people look icky with dark dyed hair.
So my opinions seem to be the anti norm here although flowers2boys is like me and doesn't really know much about dresses.
Bernie
Ps I hope I don't sound too pompous - that wasn't really the direction I was heading but I fear you might take it htat way!
Oh Bernie, you are hilarious. I don't think your comments are pompous at all. I agree, women with natural grey hair is beautiful, it just looks wrong on a 25 year old who purposely dyed her hair grey.
And it is insane how much money they spend on these dresses, I read some where they usually start at $10,000 each!
Thanks for posting these pictures . . . I don't usually watch the awards shows, but I like to see what the stars were wearing. The trend this year seemed to be a lot of dresses with trains. I personally don't care for that, but, each to their own.
