Well the big day finally came. There has been a count down in our house for a while now. Most of the party plans were a secret for our little guy which I think made the excitement even greater.
This party was all about who you know. Birthday parties can really add up quick,I wanted a fun place for the boys to play and I was pretty sure the weather would not cooperate( which it didn't). So I asked Trevor if there was equipment in the CNH Training center all the time. And there is. So Trevor asked at work and we got to use the building. So you can imagine that a New Holland theme was in the works. I had asked him what cake he wanted and his reply was," well last year you said you would make a Mac cake( from the Cars movie) and you didn't so I want one this year". Yikes, that one came back at me. I asked if a Tractor cake would do and he was quite excited about that. Of course it had to be Blue, no problem.
So the big day is almost here. I assemble the cake and put it in the freezer so I can ice it easier the next day while he is either sleeping or in school. Well the cake gets iced while he is sleeping. The next morning, the Big day has arrived. He gets up and is TOTALLY excited. I ask if he wants to see the cake or keep it a surprise until the party. He wants to wait, a decision I now regret.
So after school off to the Training center we go. I have all the boys in the back of our truck, chatting away, giggling away, and making funny noises all the way. We get to the Training Center and as we walk in the boys jaws drop to the floor and their eyes get huge. Yup there is A LOT of HUGE equipment that they get to play on. One boy looked at Trevor and said," I thought this place was going to suck but this is the best playground ever!" Mission accomplished. They ran , they climbed, they chased, they ate, they played, they hunted.
Now back to the decision I regretted earlier. I packed the cake so nicely , it was not going anywhere. When we arrived at the Training Center, I open up the cake box on the back of our truck and... the cake was totally destroyed! The bumpy road had just shaken it apart. I almost cried...almost! So I sat there, piecing it back together, wishing I had made him see it in the morning. At least I got a picture. But I have to remember these are little kids, it doesn't take much to impress them. He still loved it and they still devoured it, all good.
the cake before the trip
And instead of Treat bags we gave they boys New Holland caps ( what else). I have a feeling some dads might be stealing them...on the other hand there were some ...cough..cough...John Deere Boys there, but I think Ron was just shopping...weren't you Ron? Don't worry I won't tell Warren.
I tried to get pictures, but it is like trying to catch hockey players on ice. So here are the best we could get.
