I think I have green grass? I actually think it might be green in most areas! We really want to work on the lawn this summer and not have to mow our weeds in the back this summer.
Well we had our garage sale last weekend and despite the snow fall we did pretty good. We sold hotdogs for lunch and we sold 96 of them. We did not get any takers on our Microwave, although there was one interested party, but they were "so " picky about the color. White...Ivory , isn't it all the same to guys? I guess I will try Kijiji next. I am heading out to Waldheim's town sales tomorrow with my parents. Hoping to find some good couches!
One of our purposes of having a garage sale was to teach our almost 5 year old about earning money. We went through his toys and picked out the ones we would sell. Also we would sell his bike to earn money for a bigger one. I had full intentions of having him help "sell" things on sale day. But I guess having friends around trumped hanging around with Mom and talking to other people. So this last week we were going to the city to buy a bike. I gave him his own wallet and put in the gift card that Grandma had given him and enough money to buy a bike. He was pretty excited about the wallet. We did some shopping around for the best bike for him. I must admit he was pretty contained at each store, especially at Toys R us. He sat on each bike and looked carefully at the color of each one , we checked to see if he could touch he ground, and then looked at the price. He would ask if he had enough money in his wallet for the bike. Buy the way , you could spend a lot of money on a bike for a little kid, do they really need a Hummer bike?
Then we get to Walmart, where we had previously looked at bikes a couple of weeks before. He knew right where to go and I followed his lead. I was just as anxious as he was but for different reasons. He just knew the bike was there, and I just prayed they still had one left! So we look up and down the bike rack and my heart sunk, the bike was gone. He excitedly asked," which one was it mommy, which one?" I had to reply I didn't see it here. I could see the look of disbelief on his face. Then I told him I would find a guy to help us out, maybe another store would have one. Finally "Joel" showed up and asked very enthusiastically how he could help( so refreshing in this day of bad customer service). I asked if he knew if we could find the 16" bike that was here last time. My little guy looked so anxious it was too cute. Then Joel became my son's hero. He said I have one in the back and if I would give him 20 minutes he would put it together for us. I said yes very quickly and said we would be back in this exact spot in 20 minutes. I think this was the longest 20 minutes in my son's life. We went about and did our other business in the store, with the question of is it 20 minutes yet asked every 2 minutes. Finally I said it was time to go meet Joel . I think we ran all the way back to the bikes. And there it was, his new black and red Rocket Bike. He proudly walked it to the till, asked me which was the shortest line. We stood in line and he got out his wallet. When it was his turn the lady scanned the bike gave me the total and I motioned to the the lady that she should give her attention to the little guy in front of me. So she gave him the total. He asked if $5.00 was enough( I wish it was) . I said he would need to give her all the money in his wallet. He was $7.00 short, I think the cashier was ready to pitch in the money herself to help him. He thought he would have to give the bike back since he didn't have enough money. ( right here is when I figured he has somewhat learned the aspect of money) I said I think I can cover it. So he held on to the receipt to show the lady at the door. Later on we met up with Trevor who would take the little guy home and I would take our little girl on to gymnastics. Later that evening I asked how he liked his new bike. He said he didn't drive it because they couldn't find the helmets. I turned and pointed right to them hanging there on the stand. So today we had a very proud almost 5 year old riding his new bike and laying more blackies on our driveway!
