This weekend was our town's Fair Days. Friday night was a fundraiser for our Firefighters, sausage on a bun. Followed by an awesome street concert by Ian Eaton and group. My daughter danced for almost 2 hours while they played and sang.
Then on saturday there was a parade. This was the first parade that I have ever seen in our town, meaning I have always been in the parade but never a spectator.
Trevor driving on of my Dad's cars. Kinda hard to think that last time this year my Dad was in the parade with his cars.
My brother driving the other car.
The float I helped decorate for our church.
Now unfortunately Valley cup for my son's soccer team was going on this day as well, so I was in between there and Fair Days.
My brother put a family team together for the slow pitch tournament, we were the Honeybadgers. It was an awesome time, I had a lot of fun playing, even though I could only play for 1 game.
Also going on was the Hot Wheels race, which is the one thing my son was very sad to missed. There was also carnival games, face painting and the High school play.
The Sunday Family event was great as well. No it didn't rain on us(it did rain at night though), but it was really windy. We had a time of worship singing and then some kids features and then another concert by the Friesen Family band. Followed by a meal put on by the 2 churches on our town. Then came Family Olympics.
Hammer toss, they tied for 4th place!
Javelin...well noodle javelin
Croquet
3 legged race
Teamwork!
It is always a great weekend, with many many volunteer hours out into this weekend. The aim is to be a great family weekend. They succeeded.
One other thing that occurred on Friday was the installation of our schools new playstucture. This was 10 years in coming. Fundraising efforts have been going on for 10 years. It was so amazing to see it come into fruition. So all day friday a group of volunteers installed it.
pushing the sand back
more sand is needed, but here is the new structure. It was great watching the kids come out at recess while we were installing it, you could see the anticipation in their faces.
