So for most of the last 2 years this is what our yard has looked like. Wet, muddy and a moonscape.
Well it finally dried up this last month and we finally got to work on our yard. We rented a Skid Steer(a whole other story there) and got to work clearing rocks and garbage.
This is what it looks like now. I need to take a shot of all the rocks we picked out of here! Yikes were there some boulders in there. This is looking off our front porch, not such a moonscape anymore.
We are just waiting now for our neighbour who used a land-scraper to remove all our topsoil to be able to come back and put it back on, he works in road construction so it could be a while yet. I would love to see that hill in the back be gone yet.
I also have been working on getting rid of all our construction garbage. Loraas quoted us $6000 to use their bins, not in our budget. So we put sides on our trailer and hauled away anything that can't be burned( like ICF blocks, drywall and any other plastic) to the RM's dump. 4 trailer loads later and it is 99.9% gone!! and now so are all the bees/wasps/hornets we came across in the process. We burned all the wood and that was a lot of wood left over.
I can breathe so much more now looking around our yard. We even planted 3 Balsam Fir by the road. Now to finish the stonework and parging around the outside of our house.
Just praying this weather lasts a while yet!

Melanie,
It is such a feeling of relief to have someething cleaned up and organized - ready for the next stage. Just makes everything feel so much better doesn'it? I too have a mound of dirt out our front window but we are slowly eating away at it = the same as the pile of gravel that was extra that we keep using. Remember - Rome wasn't built in a day and in the decades it was built - many many men worked on it. Not just two people!!
Enjoy the fall/summer weather!
Bernie
