Bulk Barn cheat sheet

I discovered Bulk Barn in Winnipeg a few years ago. Of course it was just before we moved away from Winnipeg. It's name implies what it is. Everything in the store is bulk. You can get lots of stuff from candy to baking needs to cereal to spices.

For those of you who have not been before here is a little bit of information I have formulated in my visits there.

If you like to or want to decorate cakes for your kids birthday this is a great place to start. First of all they sell cake batter bulk, not as cheap as No Name in Superstore, but this makes for a 1 stop shop. They rent cake pans for $1.99 a day with a $20 deposit. They have tons of selection. They also sell all the Wilton stuff for the more advanced/daring cake decorator. But here is where I found my secret weapon for cakes and surprise company for coffee/dessert or taking cupcakes to your kids classroom: colored sugar and sprinkles. Every color and shape you could imagine!! And it is cheap. If you buy just 1 cup, it will last a long time. I use it a lot for kids making their own sundaes.

For candy they have all the unique and hard to find stuff. Gummy spiders are my kids favorite. You can get snacks for parties like the Nuts and Bolts mix, and chocolate covered nuts. Then they always have the seasonal jelly beans and smarties. Like now they have red/white jelly beans for Valentine's day.

I think every spice known to man is in this store. They also have lots of different teas, lots that are caffeine free.
You can find all the different dried fruit. We make our own trail mixes from there. We get the dried cranberries, some sort of raisin and then some nuts, usually slivered almonds. You could also add any of the granola mixes they have as well.

As I said earlier they have cereals, they are not as cheap as they are in Costco. But the Honey Nut cheerios taste exactly the same.

If you are looking for organic stuff they have that as well as gluten free. I was gonna make my own gluten free pancake mix but they have it in a mix already.

They have organic peanut butter and pea butter. You can also get pie fillings ready to go that is not from a can, it's looks so much fresher. They even have bulk corn syrup.

This is not all they have they have tons more but that is the stuff that I have noticed.

For you that live close to Saskatoon, the store is located on the west end on 22nd by the new Super Walmart and Shaw center.

Thanks! I had never heard of it before your blog post. My daughter has started Delectable Desserts - for any occasion or no occassion at all. We went there and picked up many items for a great price for her home based business. Plus the spices! wow!
