We are home

The title kind of says it all. We are finally living in our home. We actually moved in on Thanksgiving weekend. We moved into the basement for now. A couple of days ago Trevor and I moved into our bedroom upstairs, we were just waiting for carpet( a long story there). It feels very weird to be living above ground. We have been in a basement for a year. I rolled over the other morning and awoke to a very beautiful sunrise. It felt like God said, "welcome home". We gained a pet, a fish named Reeses Pieces, well actually we had 5 but only 1 is left( another long story). Now we are waiting for our kitchen cabinets to arrive. They should start being installed in about 10 days. I want to say I am done painting but there are always touch ups to do, especially after things like moving in and carpet installation. With the help of a very kind friend I layed tile today...I have never done that before...and I have come to the conclusion that I don't like it, grouting is not so bad, but I really dislike mortar. But what a change to my laundry room. Oh yeah, I have a laundry room... with working appliances!! Last Sunday as a family we sat around my new washer and watched the first load go. Ahhh family bonding! Because we moved into our room, the kids each have their own space for now. Our little guy loves it but our little girl said she was lonely the first night. We are slowly moving stuff over and it is looking more like a real lived in house!

So I hope to get more pictures up here soon. Things are still pretty busy around here. Trevor has been gone on some trips and is gone to Red Deer next week and Ontario in a couple of weeks. I am really looking forward to the Redberry Craft retreat at the end of the month.

I'm so pleased for you all that you are finally in. No the project isn't complete but now it is a home and not a project. Once the basics are done take some time to chill! Then you can go back at it with renewed energy.
I'm very sorry to miss you at Redberry - I'm going to the quilting one at Skehinah - strictly because of the windows. I find Redberry Hall so claustrophic - if i could sew in teh mess hall I'd be all right but winter is so tough with the short days and my work place has no windows so on the weekend I need to soak up as much sun as I can.
