I earned my Stripes

I had promised our dude that I would do some sort of paint detail in his room. With Trevor being gone this week I couldn't do much so I thought this was a good time to do it before we moved the kids into their rooms. The black stripes have magnetic paint under them. Not to happy with that paint, it is supposed to make it so magnets can stick to it. Well after 6 coats of paint magnets barely stick.

Before

After

So after going through almost 3 rolls of painter's tape, it is done. It really brings down the bright blue in the room.

Oh I love that! Want to help me pick colors for the nursery and Alexis room? You do such a great job!

The stripes look great! What kind of magnetic paint did you use? I'm wanting to do something similar in our new place, but if the stuff doesn't work, I may have to rethink it...Joanne Neufeldt

I think it is by Rust-o-leum( found at Canadian Tire). I might have screwed up putting it on or something. It goes on really thick and is kind of textured. I guess the stripes will always be there. It is magnetic, but not very strong.

And Kelsie-Lynn, you have great taste, you can do it! I just got confirmation from the people at Days Paints.

In fact to get rid of it you will have to sand like crazy I would suspect or stipple over top of it. But none the less it is a design that will grow up with him.
You are doing a great job with the painting and the tile. I'm very impressed! Painting is fun but tiling is hard work.
And amazingly enough you are finding enough time to have fun in the woods and post pictures. I tried to do a blog page last Sunday about what a wonderful day we had but the computer ate it!! Kind of like the dog but in this case there is nothing left of an hours worth of typing and picture editing!! Oh well.
Thanks for the updates. I will miss you next weekend.

I am thinking he will always have some sort of stripes in his room, or maybe wallpaper or yes I sand till my hands are dead. The thought was cool.

And thanks guys, both painting and tiling have been hard work for me, I don't mind small projects like a room at a time, but this whole house business, I never want to do that again.

Bernie you will be missed at the retreat, have fun at Shakinah!
