Hospital visit

** UPDATE** Our little dude came home sunday night and is doing quite well so far.

Well, it happened. Our first trip to the hospital for a family member that was not pregnancy related. Our Little dude has to have his appendix out. The pain started around Wednesday evening and thursday we were in the hospital and friday late afternoon he had them out. His recovery has been slow and it has been his stomach that is cause for concern. When they do the appendectomy they fill your stomach with air to get a better visual. After the surgery you need to release the gas out the back end. Well Aidan can't seem to get the air out, and he has tried. He has been so good though and doesn't complain a lot, there have been no tears except when the IV had to go in, they had to try twice. Trevor and I have taken turns staying over night.

So needless to say there has been LOTS of time to pass by. RUH has been amazing. They have a great play room with a Wii, TV, air hockey, foosball, lots of coloring and crafts to do. Also they have a library with books and movies. And 2 computers hooked up to the Internet.

Luckily I brought my lap top along to play movies and listen to music.

So here are 15 things I have done to pass time:

1) flossed my teeth
2)watched the trains go by on the train bridge( we have a really good view of the river)
3) watched family and friends come and go in the parking lot( we also have a really good view of the parking lot
4) watched movies: Bolt ,Alvin and the Chipmunks
5) made peanut butter and toast
6)read a book : Hope's War( a teen novel but we are on the Pediatric floor so there is not much choice) not a bad book, very easy read.
7) updated Facebook when I could
8) watched the clock, you know those huge round clock that tick very loudly
9) watched our little dude sleep
10) help flush out our little dude's IV
11)cry, but not in front of our littel Dude
12) pray
13)get to know some of the nurses
14) read books to our little Dude
15)eat Hospital food.

This has been a hard experience, finding out how hard it is to watch your child in pain and not be able to take it away or trade places with them.

I need to say thanks to everyone who has prayed for our family and who have helped us out with child care for our little princess.

Also the nurses and and Doctors here are AMAZING!!! Our little Dude said that if he ever had to go to the hospital again he wanted to go here because the nurses are so nice.

Dr. Miller has been so wonderful , patient and understanding.

Well I Should go back and see how our little Dude is doing, we are still in the hospital and Trevor is with him right now. We were hoping to go home tonight but I think we might be here another night.
